The project is titled the "Creating Community Connections"
project and has been sold as a community building project: an opportunity
for residents to connect with other residents, local businesses, and
neighborhood organizations.
We have found two things. First, for the second-round participants, it
required a one-on-one conversation to make that connection between how
technology could even build community. And second, despite our attempts to
market the project under a community building theme, some residents had
difficulty looking beyond the fact that technology was somehow connected
to the initiative and, given their skepticism toward technology, were not
inclined to sign up.
