Mr. Manjarrez is a Research Associate in the Urban Institute's Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy, and a specialist in the area of community based research. His research focuses on the development of the human service sector in low-income communities. Mr. Manjarrez is the principal investigator for a study of computer access in the District of Columbia. He is also part of a national evaluation team for HUD funded Community Outreach Partnership Centers and a Center for Disease Control and Prevention project team that is designing an evaluation manual for community-based organizations providing HIV prevention services. Mr. Manjarrez has a wealth of experience in the nonprofit sector ranging from work with neighborhood based organizations to national foundations. Before joining CNP, Mr. Manjarrez worked for the John D. & Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and the American Bar Foundation in Chicago, IL. He was a graduate research fellow at the Joint Center for Poverty Research, Chicago, IL and is currently completing his doctoral study through the Department of Sociology at Northwestern University. Mr. Manjarrez has been with the Urban Institute since 1998.
