Marsha Reeves Jews

Marsha Reeves Jews is the founder and CEO of Advanced Educational Solutions, Inc. (AES). AES was created to develop and implement innovative technology based educational and entrepreneurial systems, programs, curricula, and content, as well as, technology awareness programs to underserved communities around the world.

Ms. Jews is currently contracted with the Abyssinian Development Corporation and The Institute for Learning Technology at Columbia University on the Harlem Renaissance 2K1/ NYONE-Net projects. Ms. Jews' role in this national model is the management of its overall operations, which includes eleven technology centers and virtual reality kiosk and all community outreach and marketing.

Prior to creating AES, Ms. Jews was the president/coo/associate publisher for Career Communications Group, Inc. Ms. Jews managed all operations, $3.5 million budget, permanent staff of 24, and contractual staff ranging from 6-150. Ms Jews was responsible for all aspects of the publication of two magazines, three conferences and produced their three awards ceremonies and national public awareness campaign. CCG publishes Black /Hispanic Engineer and Information Technology magazines, and produces the Black Engineer of the Year Awards Ceremony. Ms. Jews was co-founder of the Women of Color Technology Awards and Black Family Technology Awareness Week.

In the early 90's Ms. Jews was the executive director of the Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre Foundation of Maryland, Inc., where she provided overall management of the Foundation, developed the strategic marketing plan which created statewide awareness and increased attendance at the performances. Ms. Jews oversaw all fundraising efforts and managed board meetings, retreats and committees.

Prior to her work with the Foundation, Ms. Jews was the Director of Advertising for the 100 year old Afro-American Newspaper, Inc. where she managed the sales departments for their three regional newspapers, created sales strategy, managed a sales staff of 12, as well as, worked with the editorial/production departments developing special marketing and sales inserts.

Before moving to Baltimore, Ms. Jews was the Vice President of Operations for the Marine Corps League Exhibit Co. where she handled operations and sales of the annual exposition, Modern Day Marine Force in Readiness Military Exposition and the magazine The Amphibious Warfare Review. Ms. Jews managed a staff of 6 with annual sales of $1.8 million. She was responsible for co-authoring the original business plan and presenting and securing initial funding for the company. She was also responsible for creating the international defense contractors pavilions and coordinating the French Ministry of Defense's Nuclear Biological Chemical Consortiums product exposition for the Department of Defense.

Ms. Jews is involved in her community. She's chaired numerous events including the Women's Leadership Forum's Fund Raiser honoring First Lady Hillary Clinton and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's Annual Gala. Ms. Jews is active on the following boards and commissions: the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, College of Notre Dame of Maryland, YMCA Central Maryland, Maryland Public Television Commission, Stone Soup for the World Leadership Institute and the Foundation for Educational Development.

Past boards and commissions were: Mayor's Commission for Tourism, Entertainment and Culture, Executive Council Member-Women's Leadership Forum/DNC, Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organizations, Enoch Pratt Library, Maryland Institute College of Art, American Cancer Society State Board, Port Discovery Children's Museum.

Ms. Jews has won numerous awards including: The Visionary Award/Mercedes Corporation, Distinguished Women Award/Alliance of Black Women Attorneys, One of Maryland's Top 100 Women, Scout Award, and State of Maryland Top Citizen Award/Democratic National Committee.

A noted public speaker, Ms. Jews has spoken to audiences for several organizations: Towson University's Women in Computing, Baltimore City College, NAACP/ACT-SO, Johns Hopkins Technology Institute, International Alliance of Women annual conference, National Association of Broadcasters/HR Conference, State of Maryland Legislature's State of Technology Conference, Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers-Women in Action Conference, Women in Technology International Annual conferences, Women International Feminist EXPO 2000, University of Maryland Baltimore County-Women in Technology. Ms. Jews has appeared in news articles and has been quoted by the Baltimore Sun, Metropolitan Business News, and Baltimore Magazine.

Ms. Jews has a daughter, Sandi.
