David Hunter is director of assessments with the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation, a philanthropic organization whose mission is to contribute to improvements in the lives of economically disadvantaged and underserved people and communities. He is responsible for designing, implementing and managing evaluation and assessment strategies that support quality management and knowledge generation. This is accomplished through internal assessment processes, as well as negotiating and managing grants and contracts with research firms. He also currently has a private practice providing organizational and clinical consultation for the treatment of individuals, couples and families. Previously, Dr. Hunter was chief executive officer of Southwest Connecticut Mental Health System in Bridgeport, CT; superintendent of Cedarcrest Regional Hospital in Newington, CT; and held several positions with the State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health and the Greater Bridgeport Community Mental Health Center. He obtained a B.A. in anthropology from the University of Arizona, an M.S.W. from the University of Connecticut, and an M.Phil in anthropology and Ph.D. in cultural anthropology from Yale University.
