Joan Fanning came to NPower after 5 years helping
nonprofit and governmental organizations use technology to better serve
their communities — working primarily with human service organizations.
Prior to this, she spent 3 years as a Regional Manager for a software
company providing technology solutions to the legal industry. Traumatized
by one-too-many contract negotiations, Joan fled this job for an extended
foreign exile. When she returned in 1992, a renewed sense of purpose led
her to the Masters of Public Administration Program at the University of
Washington, where she studied public policy and technology issues.
Joan is not (gasp!) a native of Seattle but comes from Southern
Illinois where she learned that cow tipping is a joke played on city folk
and to never, never, attempt to climb over an electronic barbed wired
fence with baggy pants.
Besides her MPA, Joan has an undergraduate degree in Business from
Washington University in St. Louis, with a minor in information systems
management.
