Janis Cromer
Principal
Livingston Resources, Inc.

Ms. Janis Cromer is the President of Livingston Resources, Inc., a communications and editorial services consulting firm.

Ms. Cromer served as a Founding Associate and Vice President of The McKenzie Group, Inc., for 11 years. In that role, she had lead responsibility for the firm's business development and quality control of all written and electronic products. She has served as Project Manager for major client contracts with The RJR Nabisco Foundation, the Department of Defense Education Activity, the National Science Foundation and numerous school district clients.

Prior to joining The McKenzie Group, Inc., Ms. Cromer was Director of Communications and Public Relations for the District of Columbia Public Schools from 1981 to 1987. In that capacity, she served as Spokesperson and Public Affairs Director for the 21st largest U.S. school district and was responsible for all system-wide publications including annual reports, a professional journal, monthly newsletter, and information brochures on emerging or topical school issues. She authored Congressional testimony, major speeches and articles for commercial and academic publications and handled media relations with all local and national news outlets.

Ms. Cromer also gained national education experience in her role as Confidential Special Assistant (by presidential appointment) in the U.S. Department of Education from 1979 to 1981. In that capacity, she served as the Press Secretary to the Deputy Assistant Secretary for School Improvement, the administrative office for all discretionary grant programs. She also worked as a Policy Analyst for program areas such as youth employment and training, adult education and literacy, career education, youth unemployment, bilingual education and gifted and talented education.

Ms. Cromer holds a B.A. in Political Science and Psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and an M.A. in Print Journalism from The American University.
